Dottie's Daisies named after my grandma is an updated version to the classic Grandma's Flower Garden quilt. I created this design out of a desire to give this quilt new life. As it was coming together it made me think of my grandma.
This quilt is made from cotton fabrics and has a wool batting. There is extensive custom quilting on the quilt. The flowers are quilted around with a scalloped edge and pearls giving them a dainty look. There is no quilting on the flower petals themselves, except in the center of the larger flowers. Each petal of all the flowers was quilted using a stitch in the ditch method. The sides have a feather motif. This quilt has a soft scalloped edge, quilted with piano keys and pearls to give the scallop an extra pop. This quilt includes a quilt label made entirely by me. It tells who made and quilted the quilt, the name of the pattern and the year it was completed. It was hand stitched to the back.
The interior of the quilt was quilted in a darker off white thread and the borders were quilted in a warm grey. Both threads compliment the fabrics without overpowering the quilt.
There are 2 different varieties of the larger flowers some made with the same fabric and the others are made using 2 different fabrics. All the flowers were machine appliquéd to the quilt.
The smaller flowers are made from all different kinds of reds so each one has 2 different fabrics in it.
There are 5 large flowers across and 5 large flowers down. There are 4 small flowers across and 4 small flowers down.
The background of the quilt is a green and off white.
Quilt measures 90" x 90"
This quilt has been pre-washed.
Care Instructions:
Wash in cool water on delicate cycle, dry on low heat or hang dry.
